What do I need to register for DV-2025?

The registration page is opening soon, and we are sure that you are very excited if this is your first time registering or even your 13th time. So, it is important to make a note in your calender of the following dates and prepare to have the right information on hand when you get access to the website to register.

IMPORTANT DATES: Applicants must submit entries for the DV-2025 program electronically between 12:00 pm (noon), Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), Wednesday, October 4, 2023, and 12:00 pm (noon), Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5), Tuesday, November 7, 2023

To participate in the DV-2025 program and potentially immigrate to the United States, you must follow these instructions carefully. The U.S. government will not contact you directly if you are selected; instead, you must use the “Entrant Status Check” to verify your status and follow the application process. But we will go into that a bit later. First steps first!

To complete your entry, you need to provide the following information accurately:

  1. Name: Your full name as it appears on your passport, including last/family name, first name, and middle name (if applicable). If your passport only shows your first and last names, list them accordingly. If it includes all three names, list them in the order: last/family name, first name, middle name. If you have a single name, enter it in the last/family name field.
  2. Gender: Specify your gender as male or female.
  3. Birth Date: Provide your birth date in the format day, month, year.
  4. City of Birth: Mention the city where you were born.
  5. Country of Birth: Use the name of the country that currently represents your place of birth.
  6. Country of Eligibility for the DV Program: This is typically the same as your country of birth. It’s not based on your current residence or nationality. If you were born in an ineligible country, check the Frequently Asked Questions for potential alternative eligibility criteria.
  7. Entrant Photographs: Submit recent photographs (taken within the last six months) of yourself, your spouse, and all your dependent children included in your entry. Ensure that these photos meet the required specifications, as outlined in the guidelines.
  8. Mailing Address: Provide your complete mailing address, including “In Care Of,” Address Line 1, Address Line 2 (if applicable), City/Town, District/Country/Province/State, Postal Code/Zip Code, and Country.
  9. Current Country of Residence: Indicate the country where you currently live.
  10. Phone Number (Optional): You may provide a phone number if you wish.
  11. Email Address: Share an email address that you have direct access to and will maintain access to through May of the following year. You’ll receive email communications from the Department of State if you are selected.
  12. Highest Level of Education Achieved: Choose the option that corresponds to your highest level of education completed.
  13. Marital Status: Select your current marital status, and if applicable, provide the name, date of birth, gender, city/town of birth, and country of birth of your spouse. Include a photograph of your spouse that meets the specified technical requirements. Ensure accuracy in listing your spouse, even if you are separated but not legally separated. If your spouse is a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident, do not list them.
  14. Number of Children: List all living, unmarried children under 21 years of age, including natural children, legally adopted children, and stepchildren, along with their name, date of birth, gender, city/town of birth, and country of birth. Submit individual photographs for each child. Married or children aged 21 or older are not eligible for the DV program unless protected by the Child Status Protection Act. U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident children should not be listed.

Ensure that your entry is complete and accurate to avoid potential disqualification. Refer to the Frequently Asked Questions for further guidance on completing your Electronic Entry for the DV-2025 Program.

You are welcome to contact us anytime if you have more questions, if we don’t have the answers…we’ll find them for you!
